I Got Punted – A Lot
April 10th, 2010 Posted 10:51 am
Last night, Guild Holiday was another attempt at Serpentshrine Cavern. The mechanic in there really requires some more fear protection and a few more people, unfortunately. If it weren’t for the twenty five man deal, we’d not have any problems with it. We also tried Hyjal, but again, Archimonde’s fear mechanics means we need more fear protection to beat him. Despite not getting either achievement, I had a good time. I’m not sure I miss Burning Crusade mechanics. Without seeing them with on par gear and on par level, I can’t really say. However, besides Karazhan, I was not as fond of Burning Crusade as I feel about Naxx or Ice Crown Citadel. I had just read The Well of Eternity and The Demon Soul. So, getting to see Archimond, it was such a visual for that story. I’m very excited about Cataclysm. I think it will all be tied together there.

Waiting for Class Preview
April 9th, 2010 Posted 11:49 am
I’m not super anxious for the Hunter Class preview. I think it’s supposed to be today, but to be honest, I’m not even sure. However, I needed a clever title so that’s what I went with. Yesterday, I ran my round of dailies and mustered up the energy to fish from each school of fish in the Outlands. After that, I went back to trying to fish up the dark herring. I realize the chances of this happening are never. But, I am drawn to try to do it. It’s like it’s taunting me and challenging me with its random number generator. I think in the meantime I’ll focus on ones that are more immediately achievable first before I just fish for cobalt (seriously, those pools give me a lot of cobalt). For example, I will fish out of the Northrend pools next. That’s almost guaranteed unless there’s some mysterious hard to find pool out there. THERE COULD BE.
Tonight, it is guild night and we are doing Serpentshrine Cavern. I really need to read up, so, I have an idea of what we are facing.

Stuck In a Moment
February 19th, 2010 Posted 9:59 am
One thing that is true about my personality, I am prone to action paralysis. It comes in one of two flavors. Flavor one is that there are so many choices of things to do and so little time. In this case, I’ll just sit there and do nothing. Flavor two is when things get difficult or overwhelming and in that case nothing happens as well. Rationally, I understand that if I’m burnt out on gathering badges that I just don’t run instances and do something else. Irrationally there’s some internal-only idea that it’s what you do and you have to do it. Then, I’ll just sit there.
I’ve been trying to get over that paralysis everywhere in my life, but, it also applies to games and gaming. They are hobbies, so, why shouldn’t I just decide to go on to something that doesn’t feel like work. I’ve been more willing to do that as of late. I am enjoying achieving things at my own pace much better. Playing Star Trek Online, I’m still at the first level of LC, but when I play, I have a lot of fun with it. In World of Warcraft, if I don’t want to grind Argent dailies, then, I pick something else.
So what is on board for tonight? Guild holiday, of course. This is when our World of Warcraft guild lets our hair down after a long week. Usually, we run an old world raid for reputation or to get an achievement. Who knows what we will run tonight? Karazhan? AQ40? Maybe, I will see if we can do Magtherodon. I don’t even know if I spelled that right and I’m going to be a rebel and refuse to look it up.
