On Friday night, I played Spore.  I never played Spore when it originally came out so I’m a little late in the game.  I can see why some people did not enjoy it or lost interest.  Having seen some of my other posts, you can imagine that creating adorable creatures and having them dance to make friends could keep me busy for hours.  It really did.  I was up until 2 am playing with cute and adorable creatures.   That was Friday night.

Some nights, though, I can’t seem to pick one thing to concentrate on.  Tonight was not the worst night, but, it wasn’t great.  I have also been playing Final Fantasy XIII.  I’ve probably played it a total of four hours with 2 of those hours coming from tonight’s play time.  Sitting for 2 hours and doing something is a pretty big thing for me.  There are people who don’t like Final Fantasy XIII, and maybe, I’ll get annoyed in another 2-3 plays.  For now, though, I’m generally enjoying the story line even if I secretly hope some characters fall off a crystal to their end.

I can’t hate too much as it helped me get my 5,000th achievement point on the Xbox.  That was pretty cool.

Hectic Week

This week has been very hectic.  I’m stuffing everything I normally do into a couple of days.  This weekend, I’m heading off to South Carolina to volunteer at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  I heard it is a very inspiring event, so, I’m looking forward to being there and to experience everything.

I had an awesome weekend of World of Warcraft last weekend.  Sometimes, I just let things go and sit down and play a while.  That was definitely a lot of fun.  Hopefully when I get back, I can make things a little less hectic here and there and have more time to delve into a few achievements.  Last weekend, we did the Vault bosses.  That was pretty cool, as, I had not seen one or two of them.  Totally worth the couple minutes for those achievements.  If you haven’t had a chance to do them, check them out!

My brain is still pretty fried from being away over the weekend.  I’m lucky if I could function last night.  Even with that, I did a few dailies and helped Tyrolos get the last of his Triumph badges for some mad PVP gear.

Somewhere in there, like in a dream, I finished the achievement to do all the fishing dailies from Burning Crusade.

Tonight, I may go PVP.  I have very little PVP achievements so that should be fun!  The new Random PVP system is so much better than the old way.  SO MUCH BETTER.  Caps lock is cruise control for awesome, so, you know it must be true.

Achieving and Horse Fashion Shows

Last night, I went on a run with Tyrolos to help him finish up the achievements for his Red Proto Drake.  Conveniently, I still needed all the ones he was working on.  The list we got was craaaaazy:

  1. Ruby Void and Green Void (Oculus): You have to complete the Oculus without any Green (healing) or Red (Tanking) drakes.
  2. Lesserabi (Gundrak): You have to beat Moorabi without letting him transform into a mammoth.  This is apparently one of the hardest in the game.
  3. I forget the name of this one but it is in Gundrak.  You have to let everyone get impaled on the final boss before killing him.  This one was a pretty amusing watch especially since Beakshock got impaled several times just because the boss had it out for her.
  4. Finally, we killed the first boss in Old Kingdom without killing any of his guardians.

Such a wild night!

Afterwards, I finished up a roleplay on AstralMUX.  Anyone who knows me knows I am afraid of horses.  However, they are difficult to avoid in games and when it’s text I just imagine them how I want to.  We have one horse on AstralMUX, named Horse.  Characters Daeleth, a demon hunter, and Murmur, a demon, were in a debate about who was more lovely looking.  Since, we were low on extra players that night – I determined that the horse was definitely a fashion expert.

Still on the grind with my dailies in World of Warcraft.  Some days, they burn me out and I’m done when I’m done with them. Some days, I can just keep going and going.  Last night, by the time I got done with dailies, I was pretty much done playing.  When I remain on, I’ve been fishing for my Dark Herring with the added benefit of a chance of the turtle mount.  It is slow going, but, I can read while I fish.  I’ve been poking around with my characters on the Alliance side but very little.  I just want to level my low character I left there a bit so I can have some support as I at least see the Worgan starting area and Gnomeragan things.

I played through the first mission in Dark Forces.  GOOD NEWS THE SLIME IS FLOWING AGAIN.  Just kidding – wrong game.  I wasn’t sure if I had played Dark Forces.  I remembered borrowing a game from my brother in the 90’s but I could not be sure this was the one.  It is though!  When I got to the end of the first mission, I realized that I had definitely played it before, because, I remembered getting back to my ship.  I also remembered being a lot more terrible at it.  So, at least, I have improved in so many years.

Right before it was time to settle down for the night, I gave Torchlight a try.  Torchlight, thus far, is pure dungeon crawl.  You get powers, get loot, and destroy things.  In fact, it has achievements for destroying things.  I got an achievement for getting 25 critical strikes and one for feeding my pet.  If you feed your pet fish, they transform and then they roll out.  Something like that.

Plainswalking and Wreckage

I forgot to talk about our week of Magic that occurred while I was away.  It was a long time since I played that much and I re-learned a lot that I forgot and learned some new things as well.  I got to play every deck that I have created at least once.  We picked up a box of Worldwake boosters and I got my first Plainswalker.  This dude is really cool, but, I’ll have to build a deck for him to go into.  I’ve not yet made one from scratch so I will have to get my husband to help me.  I’m leaning heavily into trying a blue/white deck for the first time.  So far I have:

  • Blue/Black Artifact Deck – This is my deck that I call “droids”.  It was the starter deck that I bought at DragonCon in 2009 and it is the deck I learned to play with.  When we bought it, there was this scary geek standing next to me who informed me that if someone played that deck against him he would eat it and poop it out seven days later.  I should mention he was only wearing a loincloth and carried a blow up sword.
  • White/Red Angels Deck – This one focuses on creatures and direct damage.
  • Red/Green Allies Deck – This one relies on bringing allies to the field to buff creatures.
  • Green/Blue Landfall Deck – This deck relies on bringing land to the field to buff creatures.

My artifact deck is pretty solid, but, my red/white and red/green and green/blue all could use some examination.  Fortunately, I have a lot of cards to go through.  This weekend organization might occur.  It’s pretty busy with Bill working and his birthday to be honest.

Last night, I also spent time trying to find Floating Wreckage in World of Warcraft.  I figured this achievement would take one evening tops to finish.  WRONG.  I ran up and down Feralas fishing for 2 hours until my fingers were tired of clicking the mouse button and I went to bed.  I suppose there’s always tonight.  Maybe that Floating Wreckage will magically appear!

Things I Have Been Up To

Where have I been? Gaming! That’s where. It’s been busy. I’ve been laying a bit low on roleplaying for a a week or two. Part of the reason involves my shoulder which has complained about being at the computer desk. It finally seems to be recovering so this has made me very happy. It seems like there is a long time until the World of Warcraft expansion comes out but that time will go quickly. I switched alts in June, which means, I need to make up all the Achievement points my other main had accumulated. And frankly, Dandiemoo had a ridiculous number something like 4200. Autoshotmoo now has nearly 2900. This shows you how insane I just might be. I am still working on Loremaster. I realize I say this all the time. This is because I am always working on Loremaster.

Last night, I got some inspiration in the form of the Firan gods coming online during the festival season. What a way to work myself back into roleplay! I find myself in a weird state where I often think I forgot how if I go a bit without a scene. However, I think I managed not to sound entirely inane.

The Low Down

October 6th, 2009 Posted 11:15 am

Our schedules have changed once more and this has made any sort of routine, including blogging, go right out the door. I’m starting to get the hang of it again, which is a good thing. With World of Warcraft: Cataclysm on the horizon, I’m trying to finish up as many Achievements as I can. Loremaster is the big task and is made more difficult by me switching my main to a Hunter. Starting from zero does have its appeal, since, you get all the achievements as you go. Loremaster is an achievement where you do a certain number of quests in each area and cover a significant part of the Warcraft storyline. When I’m not working on that, there’s the ever looming Argent Tournament, raiding and Inscription Research to keep up with. I’ve decided to level a feral druid. I’ve never successfully done this because the first twenty or so levels can be kind of rough.

AstralMUX is still in the middle of a plot line about the Nazarov Castle. There are still some ends to tie up that will tie into the future in some heavy ways. Essentially, everyone thought the Princess had returned. Instead, it was Demas’ evil sister, Penelope, in disguise. She did some major work on everyone’s fan favorite knight, Bayanai Etath. Right now, he doesn’t even have his memories so it remains to be seen where he will fit into the ever changing world. The face of the rebellion against demons is changing quickly and I’m excited to see what may come out of this. Will the people remain afraid? Will they start to take up arms? I don’t even know.

Brewfest

I finished all my Brewfest achievements in World of Warcraft this week. This gives me the title of Brewmaster and who wouldn’t want such a title! The passing of a holiday gives me less to do in the game so I can muck around with various other achievements. This weekend, I gave my Hunter a spin through Naxx (10) which is a ten man raid. I didn’t do so bad. I’m holding in the top three DPS but I’m afraid that I’ve hit the cap on how much DPS I can put out. I would love to make 3k by the time we try Ulduar; this could be a pipe dream.

Good Reputation?

I did not blog much this weekend due to being sick from Friday to Sunday night. I now have a lot to get done that I did not through the days I was not feeling well. I did have time to play some World of Warcraft and it was gooood. I finished up my Shat’ari Skyguard Reputation and bought my Nether Rays and the little nether ray pet that you can get from them as well as a tabard! I also got Exalted with Ironforge in the Argent Crusade as well so I was able to add another mount to Dandiemoo’s collection. She is at 62/100 of the 100 mount achievement. Every time she brings out a mount it’s never the same! It’s odd what compels someone to play a game and stick with something like that. I admit I am not an achievement master by any means, but, I have gathered a significant amount since they were introduced. I enjoy getting a gold star for things I do on games. I’ve played games through to the end on the Xbox that I never would have otherwise just for the little points they give. It’s not so much a bragging right as the ability to look back and see what I’ve accomplished as well as a quantifiable way of seeing all the cool stuff I have done. It’s also a neat way to come up with things to do when you’re not sure what to do next. Oh look, I can quest in Eastern Kingdoms or oh let me run Black Fathom Depths. Also, every player seems to have a different focus and that’s really cool. Also, it’s a lot of fun to be able to see your guild gain something (even if it is as simple as all the blank slots) and to congratulate them. Moral of this story: meaningless points = awesome. I forgot to mention that my Horde Blood Elf Hunter hit 69 yesterday. This is definitely way further than I have ever delved into the lore of the Horde and it’s been great! It’s like looking into a mirror and being able to see the other side. I am hoping I can hit 70 soon so I can get to the Howling Fjord.
