Back Into the Swing of Things
May 18th, 2010 Posted 10:46 am
I’m getting back into the swing of things here at home. This means there is so much to do that I was able to leave behind over the weekend. I logged into World of Warcraft yesterday and did my dailies. I was almost too tired to do that, but, I knew it would help ease me into my attempt to get back into routine. I also took Autoshotmoo to the weekly raid which was in Naxx this week. Oh Naxx, sometimes I do miss you and your creepy bugs. I remember when we were standing in front of the spider wing for the first time. I did not get to do the raid in Vanilla WoW, so, it was all new to me. I think the fights there reminded me of Karazhan and I absolutely learned to love that instance as well. I think that Ice Crown Citadel and many others are really good. But for some reason, I think instances like Naxx were able to spark our imaginations in a different way.

Hectic Week
May 12th, 2010 Posted 11:01 am
This week has been very hectic. I’m stuffing everything I normally do into a couple of days. This weekend, I’m heading off to South Carolina to volunteer at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. I heard it is a very inspiring event, so, I’m looking forward to being there and to experience everything.
I had an awesome weekend of World of Warcraft last weekend. Sometimes, I just let things go and sit down and play a while. That was definitely a lot of fun. Hopefully when I get back, I can make things a little less hectic here and there and have more time to delve into a few achievements. Last weekend, we did the Vault bosses. That was pretty cool, as, I had not seen one or two of them. Totally worth the couple minutes for those achievements. If you haven’t had a chance to do them, check them out!

Random Wednesday
May 6th, 2010 Posted 10:32 am
Last night, we powered through Ice Crown Citadel up to Saurfang. I think we saw a few pieces of gear that we don’t normally see. That makes the run worthwhile. I hate when we run the raid and it’s like, “Someone take the axe. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YOU WANT THIS AXE DON’T YOU?” At this point, nobody needs that axe. We’re going to have casters carrying around axes.
After the raid, I got my dailies done and had time to role play. I had a surprising scene on AstralMUX in which things I did not know would happen…well, happened. As I’m the GM, that’s always a pleasant surprise and I think I caused plenty of trouble with this one.
I really want a chance to level my druid from 79 to 80. I have a three day weekend, so, I see plenty of opportunity to catch up on the house work and complete this task.

Is this Week Done Yet?
May 5th, 2010 Posted 9:34 am
I admit that I’m exhausted this week. I am ready for a super relaxing weekend and it’s only Wednesday. In the past two days, I have done very little in regards to anything considered gaming. I mustered the energy for some role play last night while watching TV. What would I be doing if I did not want to go to bed at 8 PM? I really want to level my Feral druid, Mewmoo, to 80. I have about 90% left to go. I also want to work on Lego: Indiana Jones.
Tonight, we raid and it will be time to hit Ice Crown Citadel hard!

Do It For the Children
May 3rd, 2010 Posted 10:59 am
Thanks to some most excellent guild members, many of our guild completed the School of Hard Knocks achievement for Children’s Week. In this achievement, you must have your orphan out and do several different things:
- Return a flag in Warsong Gulch
- Return the flag to a base in Eye of the Storm
- Assault a base in Arathi Basin
- Assault a tower in Alterac Valley
Warsong Gulch, which I thought was going to be one of the hardest, ended up being quite simple. Some Alliance wanted their achievement too, so, we alternated with the flags. Eye of the Storm turned out to be the monster that one might suppose. Everyone on a flag trying to take it and turn it in is the disaster one might expect.
Arathi Basin was one of the easiest achievements. It’s so easy to let things turn in that battleground. My favorite had to be the person who came into a battleground on Sunday of Children’s Week and expected everyone to follow normal directions. (Who normally follows battleground directions anyhow?) Also, I definitely got a feel for how the Horde wins so well. They do sometimes have great coordination with riders going between two nodes.
Alterac Valley is not simple, but, it’s not terrifyingly hard either. My first recommendation would be to ride down to the bunkers at the end and see if you can claim one of those. If that doesn’t work, go back and see if the other team will turn any bunkers over again.
Dandiemoo did all of Children’s Week, but, I never completed the PVP achievements. Now that Autoshotmoo has completed these hard ones, I can spend the rest of the week getting pets. Is there a better way to spend the week?

Not Much Going On
May 1st, 2010 Posted 12:47 pm
This weekend, it is a quieter weekend. It’s the kind of weekend that came at the right time. Last night, I didn’t do much but some World of Warcraft dailies and leveling my priest to 23. I ended up spending much more of the evening drinking coffee, talking with friends, and watching the beginning of the Wolverine movie. I had never seen this and just realized Ryan Reynolds is in this movie. I love Ryan Reynolds.
As for the rest of the day, I think I’m going to pick up an Xbox game and go balls to the wall on it. I haven’t decided what I might play just yet.

Fishing Extravaganza
April 28th, 2010 Posted 12:28 pm
Last night, we held a guild fishing even to increase our fish feast supplies. For the thirty minutes we stood in Wintergrasp, it was a really fun time. It was so inane. And we did silly things like stand on top of each other, bring out pets, and eventually ran Wintergrasp when it started. Blizzard takes a lot of criticism for not being “hard core”, however, my favorite moments (even raiding) have had nothing to do with being hard core. What it has come down to is doing it together and I’m happy that they’ve encouraged and made it easier for my friends and I to do just that.

Not a Well Day
April 27th, 2010 Posted 10:07 am
I might have caught a little virus or something, as, I have not been feeling all that great. It’s just a general crappy feeling, but by evening I have just been so worn out I can’t function. Hopefully, I can get enough sleep to make that go away. So, instead, I had a quiet evening of catching up on Lost with my husband. Though it took my gimpy self the whole night, I leveled my Death Knight, Leukocyte, to level 62! I admit that I face roll my Death Knight and the mechanic as created in Wrath seems to elude me. I just press all the buttons in order on my bar. From reading the Death Knight changes for Cataclysm, it sounds like they will make them less a frantic button mashing class. It is true that you pretty much have to manage just so many cool downs and I think that many people can play a Death Knight but not as many can play one well.
Today, as well, they announced the badge changes in World of Warcraft. Yesterday, I was elated and stunned to find that they were making the loot tables the same for 10-man and 25-man raiding. Then, this morning, I was surprised to find that they had also altered the badge system into two simple tiers of points. A Low-Tier, like Triumph Badges, will offer unlimited badges through things like heroic dungeons. A High-Tier of badges will be limited offerings through raids, daily random dungeons, and weekly dungeons. What is more exciting is that they seem to be aiming a restriction at how many you can earn a week which seems to be taking the pressure of raiding, running a random dungeon every day, and running a weekly raid to remain competitive. While these bits of news may not be what everyone is looking for in World of Warcraft, I welcome the changes.

Weekend of XP
April 26th, 2010 Posted 11:26 am
This weekend, I played a lot of World of Warcraft. I leveled my Alliance Fire Mage to 20 and then went on to level my druid to 79 and my Enhancement Shaman to 69. I like leveling from the fact that I like watching the characters get new skills and how they use them. I’ve seen the content before, but, I still find it relaxing to sit down and roll through it on someone new. Even though it’s old, taking a melee instead of a caster can make it feel different and new. Mewmoo will be my fifth level 80. I know that sounds crazy, but, leveling fits a certain OCD where you just keep going +1 for a while until you win bacon. As such, I seem to have a knack for painlessly grinding up characters.
We finally got some binders, so, I can get our magic cards in order. Eventually, we plan to get two big bookshelves for the bedroom and narrow the books down to the ones we want to keep. Hopefully, the shelves will also have room for the Magic Card binders as well. I haven’t delved into organizing them, but, it seems like a good project for quiet TV time before bed.
I am reminded that I need to try to get my Wii back on the network. We have not used it in ages, but, we pulled it back out and I can’t seem to get it to connect for some reason. I seem to recall it being a super pain before as well. Sigh, Wii, sigh. I’ll have to fuss with it more this week because I am sure there are many cool updates to be had.

I Can’t Move My Head
April 22nd, 2010 Posted 10:27 am
I can’t. I slept funny and now my neck hurts. So, I have to turn like a robot and everything. Beep boop beep, I am a robot. This has nothing to do with gaming. Because, for most gaming, you really only need to look forward.
Last night, we worked on our Ice Crown Citadel raid. We’ll be starting Putricide on Sunday morning and I have a good feeling about that fight. I have such a long way to another piece of tier 10 gear, though. That stinks, since, I’m getting low on other things I can upgrade without badges. Hopefully, I’ll get enough for some spiffy pants. I know that pants for Hunters drops a little later in the instance and so that will definitely be my next replacement. The guild doesn’t really like when I show up pantsless to raids.
